But what is trauma? Most of us can recall events in our lives that caused us great pain, whether it was a broken heart or a car accident. However, when we are inundated with stress from an experience, a psychological scar may be left behind. This is known as trauma.
One in two people will experience a traumatic event during their lifetime, according to the American Psychological Association (APA). There is no discrimination in trauma. People of all races, ethnicities, sexes, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities, and backgrounds are affected. Despite the overwhelming nature of the symptoms of trauma, it is possible to recover and feel better. Trauma therapy can help you do this.

There is a strong emotional response to experiencing or witnessing a distressing event, or series of events. This disorder is characterized by feelings of helplessness, horror, and fear for your own or someone else’s safety.
